GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare has received a licence extension for alli, the only non-prescription weight loss medicine to be licensed for use throughout Europe. This license extension is for a new chewable tablet format. The new alli tablets are planned to be on sale in pharmacies throughout the UK from the end of the year. alli 27mg chewable tablets (orlistat) are for overweight adults with a BMI >28 kg/m2 and should be used with a reduced calorie, lower-fat diet. The tablets block about 25% of consumed fat from being absorbed. For every 2lbs users work to lose, adding alli can help them lose 1lb more. The new alli chewable tablets are convenient, discreet and easy to take. With alli’s free personalised online support programme (at www.alli.co.uk), staying on track is simple and users will learn new skills to help them reach a healthier weight. Group brand director, Holly Turner, said: “We have worked very closely with pharmacists since the launch of alli and are grateful for their ongoing commitment to support people through their weight loss journey. Pharmacists will soon be able to offer their customers a new, convenient way to take alli to help them reach a healthier weight.” For more information visit www.alli.co.uk
