Numark has launched a flu vaccine service aimed at members who want to provide a private service. The package includes a one-day training course, a PGD and marketing materials and costs £310 per pharmacist and £250 for those requiring the half day refresher course.
“We know how popular flu vaccination has proved to be over the last couple of years and, with GPs only vaccinating those in ‘at risk’ categories, there is a clear demand for a private service in many areas,” said Chrissy Wright, Numark’s service development manager.
“There may be an NHS advertising campaign again this year, but regardless, there will be awareness generated by articles in the press. Independent pharmacies that are not offering a service are missing out on a potentially lucrative income stream.
“The benefit of Numark’s flu vaccine service is that the PGD allows our members to administer a variety of vaccines and does not limit them to just one. If, like last year, there is a shortage of a particular vaccine, our members will not be restricted in this way.
“Providing this service will increase footfall into your pharmacy. It is an ideal service to raise awareness to patients that pharmacy does more than just dispense prescriptions. As with the provision of any service, it will build customer loyalty, making patients much more likely to return to your pharmacy for their next flu vaccine but also for other products and services you provide.”
Training takes place throughout the summer and anyone interested should register their interest on NumarkNet.
