Unlicenced medicines manufacturer, The Specials Laboratory, has unveiled a new website aimed at providing knowledge relating to specials to support community and hospital pharmacists. The new-look www.specialslab.co.uk includes general information about unlicensed formulations, the types of products available and an insight into quality standards required for manufacturing specials. The award-winning company has also retained its live lead time indicator that provides real-time information of the percentage of orders being delivered in 24 hours. The Specials Lab was the first in the sector to adopt this transparent approach to assist pharmacists needing to obtain specials as quickly as possible. Sharon Griffiths, managing director at the Northumberland-based manufacturer, said: “We are very pleased with our new website as it reflects our customer-focused approach and hope pharmacists utilise it as an easy-to-access information source about specials, special obtains and over-labelled products. “As the way in which pharmacies operate changes, we continually look to adapt to make sure we are supporting pharmacists as much as possible.” The company’s website includes expanded product information on its ‘Special Obtains’ service, which is helping pharmacists order unusual and difficult to source products to help meet specific patient needs. These include items that are not regular lines and often not stocked by mainline wholesalers such as gluten-free products, colostomy and ostomy lines, homeopathics, dressings, cover creams, vitamins, appliances and dermatology products such as silk vests. Visit www.specialslab.co.uk for more information.
