Boots UK has announced the acquisition of Wiggly-Amps Limited, a health technology company, which has developed a digital solution that enables patients and their GPs to better manage their prescription needs.
The deal is effective immediately. All the healthcare-focussed products and services previously delivered by Wiggly-Amps will now be wholly owned and delivered by two new companies which will both be separate entities to Boots UK.
Engage Touch patient check-in touch screens, the Engage Consult online consultation system, Engage Web GP websites, DORIS, and Encompass will now be delivered through Engage Health Systems Ltd and the Little Green Button panic alarm system will now be delivered through Little Green Button Ltd.
“At Boots UK we are always looking for ways to develop the role of community pharmacy and make things simpler and quicker for our customers and patients. It’s an exciting time for the future of pharmacy and today’s announcement is just one of the ways we are strengthening the development of our digital healthcare ambitions,” said Richard Bradley, Pharmacy Director at Boots UK.
The Wiggly-Amps directors, management team and staff all remain in place and will continue to operate the business from the same offices in North Walsham, Norfolk.
Jon Witte, Managing Director of Engage Health Systems (previously Wiggly-Amps), said: “The acquisition of Wiggly-Amps Ltd by Boots UK serves as a reflection of the hard work and dedication of the Wiggly-Amps team in developing innovative software and architecture.
“As the market leader, Boots UK has the scale and reputation to make the best use of this software and we look forward to working with Boots UK to help them fulfill their vision of connecting directly with their customers simply and quickly.”
