The Department of Health and Social Care today announced the extension of serious shortage protocol (SSP) for fluoxetine 40mg capsules.

The SSP for 40mg capsules, which were due to expire on Monday, will now be effective until November 20.

The government first announced SSPs for fluoxetine 10mg, 30mg and 40mg capsules on October 3.

The SSP for fluoxetine 30mg is also scheduled to expire on November 20.

The SSP for 10mg capsules was withdrawn last month as the department confirmed that the supplies are now available to meet normal demand.
