Boots said it has seen a steep rise in its vitamin sales since the advent Covid-19 pandemic.

The customer demand for vitamins jumped by 133 per cent, marking the strongest period of vitamin sales in five years, the pharmacy chain has reported.

Boots, which sells over 150 vitamin products, expects the product will continue to fly off the shelves as the country ease out of lockdown, with the customers recognising the role of some vitamins in supporting the immune system as well as potentially reducing the chances of falling ill during the pandemic.

“Unsurprisingly with restrictions leading to more time spent indoors, it was vitamin D – the ‘sunshine vitamin’ – that was one of the top selling supplements, with sales rising by up to 117 per cent since the first lockdown – and sales on boots.com up by a staggering 809 per cent,” the company has noted.
