NHS England has released new guidance on the Community Pharmacy Quality Payments Scheme for the November 2017 declaration. Hilary Cunningham, Numark’s information services pharmacist, summarises the key changes…

There are four key changes for the November claim point. The first is for contractors who exceed 100 Summary Care Records (SCR) accesses in both period 1 (Monday 3 October 2016 to Sunday 30 April 2017) and period 2 (Monday 1 May 2017 to Sunday 26 November 2017) will automatically satisfy this criterion even where the number of accesses has not increased.
Contractors should also be aware that the SCR calculator will no longer be available after the November claim point.
A revised process for checking NHS 111 Directory of Service (DoS) has been launched by NHS England to allow contractors to validate or edit their pharmacies profile. This profile uses a DoS Profile Updater that is available from 10:00 on 2nd October 2017 until 23.59 on 24th November 2017 for contractors to use.
The process for confirming a Distance Selling Pharmacies (DSP) NHS Choices profile page has also been revised and lastly, contractors that have only registered for an NHSmail account will no longer be considered to have satisfied this gateway criterion, as was allowed for the April claim point.
Pharmacy staff must be able to send and receive NHSmail to satisfy this criterion at the November claim point.
The remainder of the quality payment criteria have not been updated. Three of the criteria can only be claimed once at either the April or November claim point (written patient safety report, CPPQ report available on NHS Choices page and HLP).
Contractors who satisfied these criteria and made the appropriate claim at the April claim point will be asked whether these criteria still apply at the November claim point this declaration will not affect any payments already made.

Numark has developed a comprehensive portfolio of support for contractors which includes an action and evidence guide designed to help members understand and meet the requirements for the QP scheme alongside a complement of tools and resources to help them maximise income opportunities.
