NHS Employers has started its annual flu campaign which this year is aimed at getting health and social care professionals to vaccinate themselves this winter.
The campaign attempts to reduce the number of infections through the wide-scale vaccination of professionals who routinely come into contact with patients.
In 2016-17 63.2% of front-line healthcare workers across all trusts received the seasonal vaccine in England, an increase on 50.6% in 2015-16. The latest campaign, known as Jabathon, will run from November 6-10.
“Prevention is the best line of defence against a flu epidemic and stemming the tide of infections through vaccination is imperative. NHS Employers continues to run its flu fighter campaign, to boost vaccination levels among both healthcare and social care workers, protecting them and those around them,” said Danny Mortimer, the chief executive of NHS Employers.
