The Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC) has updated the pharmacy contractors that the value of the Single Activity Fee will revert to £1.27 per item from 1st April 2022.

The value was increased by 2p (£1.29) from August 2021 to March 2022 based PSNC’s analysis and projections for financial year 2021/22, which indicated that this uplift was required in order to deliver the correct level of funding for the year.

“As we now enter a new funding year the fee will revert to £1.27, and PSNC will continue to monitor fee levels throughout the year in order to ensure the full delivery of funding agreed under the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework,” said PSNC.

Contractors receive a single activity fee for every item dispensed including medicines and appliances. It was first introduced in England in December 2016, and replaced payouts for dispensing, practice payments and the electronic prescription service.

At the time of introduction, the single activity fee was £1.13 per item.
