The online NHS prescription service of Well Pharmacy has served over 100,000 customers, the pharmacy chain said on Thursday (October 29).

Launched in 2018, the service has recorded a rapid growth to become the third largest online pharmacy in the UK.

In September alone, the pharmacy team at Well dispensed nearly 120,000 items directly to the patients’ homes.

The pharmacy multiple also plans to add additional functionality in 2021, including a feature enabling the ordering of multiple prescriptions on behalf of family members, such as elderly relatives or young children.

Gill Stone, regulatory and NHS standards lead for Well, said: “We’re delighted to hit this major milestone celebrating 100,000 nominations. One thing we are particularly proud of is the customer care we offer through the app. Last week our customer care team sent more than 3,500 individual messages, helping customers with their questions, issues and concerns.

“Our app couldn’t be easier to use and means customers can access information anytime, anywhere to suit their lifestyles and individual needs. The growth in nominations reflects the acceleration of use in smart technology across all generations, and we are proud to be able to respond to changes in how our customers like to engage with us”.

Well Pharmacy has also recently launched a Click and Collect trial across 30 pharmacies, integrating their online and in-store services for customers.
