Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the non-psychoactive compounds found in cannabis which has garnered widespread curiosity over the last decade

A recent study, conducted by CBD experts at Brown’s CBD, unveiled Dundee as the UK’s leading CBD hotspot, with an average monthly search volume of 530.29 per 100,000 residents, sparking a surge of interest in natural wellness solutions.

New research analysed search volume data across UK cities for CBD-related terms, reflecting a staggering 1100% increase in searches for ‘what is CBD’ over the last decade.

Following Dundee, Brighton secures the second spot in the rankings with an average monthly search volume of 530.08 per 100,000 residents for CBD related terms, closely trailed by St. Albans in third place.

Other notable cities making the top ranks include Gloucester, Hereford, and Bath, indicating a widespread curiosity about CBD products and their purported health benefits.

Chester rounded off the top 10 list with the least average monthly search volume per 100,000 people of 487.73 for CBD related terms.

Laurence Brown, director of Brown’s CBD, expressed enthusiasm about the growing interest in CBD across the UK, citing it as a positive step towards embracing natural wellness solutions.

However, concerns linger over the sustainability of this trend amidst the current financial landscape for pharmacies, with fears of layoffs and service cuts looming due to increased operational costs, notably the upcoming rise in the National Living Wage.

The study’s methodology involved analysing Google Keyword Planner data for CBD-related search terms over the past 12 months in UK cities with populations exceeding 100,000 residents.

The results, ranked by search volume weighted against population size, offer valuable insights into the evolving consumer landscape surrounding CBD products.

Laurence Brown, director of Brown’s CBD, shared his excitement about the findings and commented,” the study shows that people are actively seeking out natural wellness solutions, and CBD is clearly piquing their interest; this increased awareness of the benefits surrounding CBD is a huge step in the right direction.”
