Vaccines minister Nadhim Zahawi will be speaking at the first of a series of pharmacy webinars which are being hosted by Sigma Pharmaceuticals from next month.

Zahawi will be joined by Simon Dukes, CEO of the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee, in the first web event themed around ‘Taking Pharmacy Forward’ which takes place at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, Feb 10. The discussions will be moderated by former pharmacy minister Steve Brine.

In a press release issued on Friday (Jan 15), the company said its webinars would “focus on the urgent needs and working environment of community pharmacy” at a time when the sector has been reeling under the pressures of a global pandemic.

Sigma’s co-founder, Dr Bharat Shah CBE, commented: “Sigma has a real understanding of community pharmacy and wants to support all pharmacists in getting the information they need. In these current circumstances we need to have real answers to many urgent questions and to try and allay natural fears that have grown as a result of the pandemic.”

Dates for future web sessions will be announced in due course, the company said, adding that all Sigma webinars will be free for anyone to attend provided they register online at the company’s website. The first one will be livestreamed via YouTube.

Sigma Pharmaceuticals is one of the UK’s largest independent short-line pharmacy wholesalers and has been in operation since 1982.
