French pharmaceutical company Ipsen has pledged to play its part in securing global net-zero emissions, ahead of the COP26 conference in Glasgow next month.
In a statement issued today (October 27), Ipsen said it’s proud to have joined the Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign — an urgent call to action from global coalition of UN agencies, business and industry leaders to commit to set ambitious science-based emissions reduction targets.
Ipsen is committed to science-based greenhouse-gas (GHG) emissions reductions and pledges to halve — by 2030 — GHG emissions of Ipsen’s facilities and fleet as well as all other indirect emissions that occur in a company’s value chain.
“One of the responsibilities to which I feel most deeply connected is the need to ensure that environmental sustainability, particularly minimizing our impact on climate, remains a core part of our approach,” said David Loew, chief executive officer, Ipsen.
“The actions taken today will determine the impact felt by future generations,” he added.
The company says it has already started to accelerate action on climate change with over 85 per cent of its global electricity use coming from renewable sources.
Ipsen is also making its facilities more efficient, investing in innovative heat-recovery technology and transforming its fleet energy mix.
