The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) is offering three years’ complimentary associate membership for pharmacists fleeing areas of conflict including the war in Ukraine.

By becoming a member, a refugee pharmacist will gain full access to all of the society’s resources and support services which, in turn, will help them settle and practice in Great Britain.

Membership includes access to the Pharmaceutical Journal online, access to our pharmacy practice guidance, and the support of our one-to-one professional advice service.

RPS CEO Paul Bennett said: “We have a duty to help refugees arriving in Great Britain and I am pleased to announce we are offering complimentary membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society to refugee pharmacists fleeing war and conflict areas, including Ukraine. This may help people who are in a very difficult situation to gain independence and to work in Great Britain should they wish to do so.

“RPS has supported pharmacists both in Great Britain and abroad for years, and this initiative comes on the back of the Homes for Ukraine campaign, which may see thousands of Ukrainian refugees settle here.

“We are doing our bit to support those when they need it most and will be speaking with other healthcare organisations and the All-Ukrainian Pharmaceutical Chamber (AUPC) to make sure every Ukrainian pharmacist travelling to Great Britain is welcomed. It is also right that this offer is available to any refugee pharmacist from any area of conflict, arriving in Great Britain.”

The offer is also extended to pharmacy students and pharmaceutical scientists.
