A community pharmacy is Buckingham on Thursday (Jan 28) opened a Covid-19 vaccination centre, aiming to offer jabs to 1,000 local residents a week as part of the national rollout.

The new site, based at Jardines Pharmacy in Meadow Walk, has started administering the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine to those in one of the four priority groups who are invited to get their vaccination.

“We are humbled that we are able to play a part in protecting people from Covid,” said Krishan Modi, director of Jardines Pharmacy.

“Today marks a really important step for local people in the fight back against the virus. We are a community pharmacy and we wanted to do something which would really benefit our community. Being able to open a Covid-19 vaccination centre in the town will make it so much easier for local people to get appointments near to them and enable us to give many more vaccinations to people in the area.”

To get the centre open and fully operational, Jardines Pharmacy has been working with Milton Keynes based accredited training provider ECG to deliver vaccination training to ten staff, who will be on hand to administer the vaccines.

Jane Lambert, CEO of ECG and a registered nurse, said: “It is great to see community pharmacies like Jardines working in collaboration to establish new centres and get their staff trained up to support the national rollout.”

The NHS is currently letting people know when it is their turn to have jab so once the NHS have made contact, individuals can book their appointment at Jardines Pharmacy via their online booking system.
