Boots has confirmed that “no store or pharmacist roles” will be impacted by its announcement of a further restructuring of its UK headquarters in Nottinghamshire.
The high street pharmacy chain has confirmed that it plans to axe 300 jobs at it’s Beeston head office which will represent about 10 per cent of the current support office workforce, and one per cent of its total UK workforce.
Seb James, managing director of Boots UK, said: “The events of the last year have changed consumer behaviours forever and we must adapt our business to meet these new needs.
“This means investing in our digital business, serving customers more efficiently and, above all, becoming much swifter and more agile.
“I am acutely aware that this structural change will be difficult for our amazing team in Nottingham.”
Subject to consultation, various levels of roles will be on the line in the restructure carried out “to ensure a long-term and sustainable future for the business.”
“The plan is creating a new, healthy and modern Boots, that is adapting to stay ahead of a rapidly evolving retail and pharmacy landscape,” the company told Pharmacy Business.
In July last year, Boots announced that it was going to cut more than 4,000 jobs, seven per cent of its workforce, as part of action to mitigate the “significant impact” of Covid-19.
