If you’re looking to take your career to the next level, you need to start thinking about your portfolio. A strong portfolio is essential for anyone trying to advance their career. It shows potential employers that you have the skills and experience necessary for the job. This article will discuss the things that you should add to your portfolio in order to get ahead in your career!

Get Medical Certification

You can go through some courses in order to be certified in multiple fields which should help you land a job. A lot of people in medical fields enroll in PALS training because it helps them save more lives. It also looks great on resumes and can get you hired at a better hospital. If you’re looking to get into the medical field, getting some certification is a great way to help your career.

There are other special certifications that you can get in order to help your career as well. For example, if you want to be an accountant, you could become certified in QuickBooks. This would show any potential employer that you know how to use the software and that you’re competent in accounting.

Put On A Career Summary

A well-written career summary is one of the most important things you can put in your portfolio. It should be a clear and concise statement of who you are as a professional, what you have accomplished, and where you want to go next.

A career summary is not the same thing as a resume or CV. It is an overview of your career to date that highlights your key strengths and achievements. Think of it as your elevator pitch, or rather a way to quickly and effectively communicate who you are and what value you can add to an organization.

Add Marketable Skills

There are tons of marketable skills employers will look for when hiring new workers. These are the following:

  • Communication: whether it’s verbal, written or both, being able to communicate is a highly marketable skill.
  • Interpersonal skills: also known as “people skills”, these are the abilities you have to interact with others.
  • Leadership: if you have experience leading a team, this will definitely set you apart from other candidates.
  • Problem-solving: being able to identify and solve problems quickly is a valuable ability in any workplace.
  • Time management: employers value employees who can manage their time well and get tasks done in a timely manner.

If you have any of these marketable skills, be sure to add them to your portfolio! By doing so, you’ll increase your chances of impressing potential employers and landing the job you want.

Write A Philosophy Statement

Showcase what your values are in a short and sweet way by writing a philosophy statement. This will give employers a good idea of who you are as a person, and if your values align with the company. It’s a great way to stand out from the rest of the applicants, and it shows that you’re serious about your career.

Talk about what drives you, your passions, and your career goals. Don’t overdo it, though, as it may look like you’re trying too hard. A philosophy statement should be a paragraph or two at most.

Mention Awards And Honors

If you were a good student and have been praised by your professors, make sure to add that to your portfolio as well! Any awards or honors you have received in your field of study or in general are also great things to include.

Awards show that you not only have experience and knowledge but also demonstrate excellence in what you do. Honors reflect highly on both your character and abilities, so don’t be shy about including them.

If you’re starting out your career and don’t have any awards or honors yet, don’t worry! There are plenty of other things you can put in your portfolio to showcase your skills and experience.

Use Samples Of Your Work

Always add some samples of your work to your portfolio, no matter what field you’re in. Even if you don’t have any paid work experience, there are still plenty of samples you can include, such as class projects, writing samples, and designs. Adding samples of your work shows potential employers that you have the skills they’re looking for and that you’re capable of producing great results.

If you’re a web designer, for example, be sure to include links to websites you’ve designed or screenshots of your work. By including samples of your work in your portfolio, you’ll give employers a better

A portfolio must be rich, so special certifications should be included if you have any. Make sure to have a good career summary and add all your marketable skills. Write a philosophy statement for them to see what you’re about and make sure to mention all the honors and awards you have. Finally, never forget to use samples of your own work. You’ll be hired in no time!
