Well Pharmacy, the UK’s largest independent community pharmacy chain, has donated over £22,000 to two charities that support environment cause.
The money was raised through the sale of their single-use carrier bags over the last 18 months.
The total amount was equally split between the two charities, the Marine Conservation Society and The Wildlife Trusts, which were chosen by Well Pharmacy employees through a vote.
Kim Sanger, operations manager at Well Pharmacy, said, “The colleague vote allows our colleagues to give back to their local communities by supporting their chosen charity and gives customers peace of mind knowing their carrier bag purchase goes straight back to helping the environment.”
”All donations will be used to help us continue our work to create pollution-free and properly protected seas,” said Sanjay Mitra, corporate partnerships manager at the Marine Conservation Society.
Russell Cooper, head of corporate partnerships at The Wildlife Trusts also expressed gratitude towards Well Pharmacy saying, “As the UK’s leading wildlife conservation charity we are reliant on public support to help us campaign for wildlife, manage our network of reserves, and educate and inspire the next generation.”
