The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has issued a medicine supply notification for Enalapril 20mg tablets.

Enalapril 20mg tablets will remain out of stock until early August and unlicensed supplies of Enalapril 20mg tablets can be sourced.

Alternate strengths of Enalapril (2.5mg, 5mg and 10mg) tablets remain available and will be able to support increased demand, DHSC said.

The specialist importers including Alium Medical, Clinigen Group, Durbin, Mawdsley’s Unlicensed, Target Healthcare, Waymade have confirmed that they can source unlicensed Enalapril 20mg tablets.

There is currently no listing on dm+d for the imported product for prescribers to select using their prescribing systems therefore an EPS prescription for unlicensed Enalapril 20mg tablets cannot be issued.

If a prescriber wishes to prescribe an unlicensed import, an FP10 paper prescription should be issued as ‘Enalapril 20mg tablets (Special Order)‘ and endorsed by the pharmacy as a non-Part VIIIB special .
