Supply alert for Nabumetone 500mg tablets

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has issued a medicine supply notification for Nabumetone 500mg tablets.

Tilomed Laboratories, the sole suppliers of Nabumetone 500mg tablets, has informed the DHSC that the product will remain out of stock until September 1.

However, the DHSC has further noted that unlicensed supplies can be sourced to fill the gap.

There is currently no listing on dm+d (NHS Dictionary of Medicines and Devices) for the imported product for prescribers to select using their prescribing systems so an EPS prescription for unlicensed Nabumetone 500mg tablets cannot be issued.

Where a prescriber wishes to prescribe an unlicensed import, an FP10 paper prescription should be issued as ‘Nabumetone 500mg tablets (‘Specials Order)‘ and endorsed by the pharmacy as a non-Part VIIIB special.
