The UK’s largest independent pharmacy chain Well Pharmacy will be the headline sponsor of the inaugural Pharmacy Business Diversity Conference in December.

The newly created conference will provide the pharmaceutical industry with an opportunity to showcase, explore and highlight the importance of workplace diversity and inclusion.

Well said the sponsorship is part of its work on creating a more inclusive workplace culture following its signing of the RPS Inclusion and Wellbeing pledge and the BRC Diversity & Inclusion Charter earlier this year.

Fiona Llewelyn, head of digital and executive sponsor for Well Pharmacy’s Inclusion Working Group, said: “We are thrilled to be the headline sponsor of the inaugural Pharmacy Business Diversity Conference.

“It’s so important for us as the UK’s largest independent pharmacy chain to promote equality, diversity and inclusion across everything that we do. We’re just at the start of our journey and have recently launched our Inclusion Working Group, which aims to drive inclusion through everything we do – for our patients and colleagues.”

Well recognises the value of inclusion at workplace and “understands that colleagues have differences and similarities across race, gender, age, religion, experience and sexuality”, she said.

“We want Well to be a place colleagues want to come to work and where everyone feels able and safe to bring their whole authentic self, whatever their background, cultural identity, and lived experiences.

“This conference will provide an important platform to the pharma industry to celebrate, highlight and showcase the fantastic work already taking place across the sector, and more importantly explore what more we can do to make pharmacy a truly inclusive sector to work in.”

Hosted by the Asian Media Group, the event will be held virtually between 10am and 5pm on Thursday, December 9.

Delegates will hear from inspiring leaders and influential diversity practitioners who will not only share their knowledge and experiences but also offer tangible steps managers can take to at all levels within their organisations to positively promote and implement diversity and equality.
