The Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK has appointed declared Amy Laflin as their new President, with effect from November 7.
A pharmacy technician with over 13 years of experience, Amy is the current APTUK interim president and vice president
She had earlier held the role of Education Director and National Officer within APTUK.
Amy has worked within the pharmacy sector for over 20 years and currently works as programme lead for pharmacy, Dental and Science at the West Suffolk College.
As the president, Amy will also fulfil the roles of APTUK director as well as lead ambassador.
She will guide the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and other stakeholders regarding long-term goals, strategies, and policies.
The Board of Directors said, “This is a critical time for pharmacy technicians as the profession undergoes significant evolution and Amy’s dedication to APTUK, and the profession is unrivalled. Amy has been strong and supportive both as vice president and in recent months, interim president.”
“She advocates tirelessly for the pharmacy technician profession and has shown strong leadership even in challenging situations, always remaining professional. Amy is experienced, knowledgeable of APTUK vision and standards and demonstrates strength in her values and vision to lead APTUK,” they added.
“I am truly honoured to have been entrusted with this role and to continue serving our vibrant and dedicated community of pharmacy technicians. I remain deeply committed to the values that define APTUK - professionalism, integrity, collaboration, inclusion, and visionary leadership,” commented Amy as she expressed her gratitude and pride in the new role.
“Having served as Interim President over the past five months, I have witnessed the strength and passion within our community and profession, and I look forward to continuing to lead with purpose, ensuring our profession remains visible, valued, and equipped to deliver exceptional care.”
She assured, “I am dedicated to supporting both the APTUK executive team and the APTUK members, working together to build a bright future for pharmacy technicians across the UK. Together, we are stronger.”
Her term will end in November, 2027.
