Key Summary

  • PrescriptionsPlus helps customers to track, reorder and get alerts for NHS prescriptions.
  • Free home delivery in England and faster processing via a central hub.
  • Automation helps Boots pharmacies focus more on in-store patient care.

Boots has launched its rebranded and improved repeat prescriptions service PrescriptionsPlus that helps customers track the prescription at every step, including ‘ready to collect’ notifications and reorder reminders.

PrescriptionsPlus has also unlocked free home delivery in England for busy customers who cannot get to a Boots store.

Along with the launch of PrescriptionsPlus, the health, wellness and beauty retailer will be rolling out off-site dispensing support across 150 stores in the South of England following a successful pilot of the Regional Dispensing Hub at Basingstoke.

The facility will make the repeat prescription ordering process faster for customers by using automation to dispense centrally rather than in stores.

Medicines will be delivered from the hub to stores within 24 hours of a prescription being issued, ready for customers to collect at stores or they will be shipped for home delivery.

The Boots’ first regional dispensing hub aims to grow prescription items and healthcare services by improving the customer experience of accessing healthcare on the high street.

Boots pharmacy director said, “Prescriptions are an important part of the healthcare service we offer - in fact we’re the largest dispenser of prescription medicines in the UK. In the last year, we have introduced a range of new initiatives - like real-time order tracking and integration with the NHS app - to make it easier to manage repeat prescriptions online.

“The launch of PrescriptionsPlus, our new and improved NHS repeat prescriptions service, consolidates all these upgrades in a new digital brand and a digital customer journey that’s easier to use than ever before.”
