The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has decided to increase pharmacy premises fees from £262 to £365.
The governing council of the GPhC made the decision after a consultation on fees for registered pharmacy premises, which ran between January and April.
The regulator said it received over 1700 responses to the consultation.
Although the consultation proposed that the increase in fees from October 2020, the council decided to delay bringing in the fee increases until April 2021, over pressures experienced by the pharmacy sector during the coronavirus pandemic.
It said there are no immediate plans to change fees for pharmacy professionals.
Commenting on the hike, Duncan Rudkin, GPhC cheif executive, said: “We have had to make this increase to make sure fees cover the cost of regulating each pharmacy premises, which is now £365 a year. The revised fee structure will begin in April next year to provide time for pharmacy owners to prepare for this change.”
