A delivery tracking app has been rolled out across pharmacies in Northern Ireland to ensure patients who are self-isolating can continue to get their prescription medicines.

Pro Delivery Manager or PDM, which was developed as a delivery tracking app for mobile devices, has now been integrated into the Volunteer Delivery Scheme.

Its added functionality now can match volunteers in Northern Ireland to community pharmacies. The app also helps ensure that deliveries are made to the right household, by monitoring GPS. It also provides an audit trail for the pharmacy and other stakeholders to monitor deliveries.

Michael Guerin of the National Pharmacy Association said: “We are pleased to have been able to work with Health and Social Care Board, to provide a solution that helps get medicines safely to some of Northern Ireland’s most vulnerable people.

“Pro Delivery Manager is coming into its own during the coronavirus pandemic, and many more pharmacies are now using it for safe, auditable and efficient medicines deliveries.”
