A family-run community pharmacy in the West Sussex village of Hassocks has been sold to a first-time buyer for an undisclosed sum, according to Christie & Co, who brokered the deal.
Ditchling Pharmacy, owned by husband-and-wife team Victor and Debbie Andrews for over 25 years, was brought to market to allow them to retire, the specialist business property adviser stated.
The pharmacy, which dispenses an average of 2,600 items per month, has been purchased by husband-and-wife team Kevin and Giauri Patel. They stay in the vicinity, and Giauri will work as the Pharmacist.
Victor and Debbie Andrews said it was a pleasure to serve the local community for 25 years and wished the new owners all the best for the future.
Mark Page, Director - Pharmacy at Christie & Co, said, "Demand for pharmacies across the Southeast continues to grow, and the south coast seems to be particularly attractive to buyers."
Raj Patel, Senior Finance Consultant at Christie Finance, said, “It has been a pleasure to support Giauri and Kevin in securing funding for the acquisition of their first pharmacy, conveniently located close to their hometown.
"Both are highly experienced Pharmacists and achieving a strong work–life balance was a key priority for them as they continue to raise their school-aged children. This acquisition allows them to progress professionally while maintaining the stability and flexibility their family lives require.”
RW Wilson Pharmacy sold
R W Wilson Pharmacy, located near the main shopping parade in Winlaton, Tyne and Wear, was recently sold for an undisclosed price to an experienced husband-and-wife team who own another pharmacy in the Newcastle area.
According to Christie & Co., the pharmacy was owned by John Currie for the last 19 years, and run by the superintendent pharmacist, who was also a shareholder in the business.
They decided to sell the busy pharmacy, which dispenses an average of 15,000 NHS script items per month, to retire from pharmacy ownership.
The new owners, Jagdeep and Jutinder Kaur, said they want to expand the services on offer to benefit the local community.
Karl Clezy, Director - Pharmacy at Christie & Co, said the sale attracted three offers from existing contractors in the area.
"The pharmacy benefitted from being run by a very good Pharmacist-owner, a modern fit-out, and its central location in the village, close to the two GP surgeries.”
Craig Dickson, Director at Christie Finance, said, “I was delighted to arrange the finance, which allowed Jagdeep and Jutinder to acquire their second pharmacy. They already own a hugely successful pharmacy in the Newcastle area, and the purchase of RW Wilson is an ideal fit for them.
