Funding for the IT functionality used to run the Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS) has been extended until September 30.

This funding, originally due to end on March 31, 2021, was extended for a period of six months by NHS as a way of supporting contractors during the coronavirus pandemic.

Since March 2020, monies from the Pharmacy Integration Fund were have been used to fund CPCS IT systems for community pharmacies that provide the service.

From October 1, community pharmacy contractors providing the CPCS will required to procure their own CPCS IT systems.

“By that time, we hope that a range of pharmacy IT suppliers, including PMR system vendors, will have been able to develop support for the CPCS, so that community pharmacy contractors have a choice of potential IT solutions to support the provision of the service,” the PSNC said in an update.
