How Positive Solutions is redefining pharmacy workflow

How Positive Solutions is redefining pharmacy workflow

Positive Solutions have led a transformation in how pharmacies manage their entire workflow

At Positive Solutions, we’ve been innovating pharmacy workflows for over 30 years. As pioneers in the sector, we were the first to introduce a Hub and Spoke solution to the market with Analyst Central Fill, years before competitors like Golden Tote existed.

Our advanced and seamless integration with pharmacy robots remains a major reason why leading manufacturers continue to recommend us.

Around ten years ago, we broke new ground again by pioneering the use of mobile scanning technology in pharmacy. This innovation has proven critical for improving both accuracy and speed in dispensing. Today, over 80 per cent of our customers have successfully adopted mobile scanning, and we continue to evolve and enhance this area of our product suite.

But innovation is not a one-time event—it’s a mindset. In the last five years, we’ve led a transformation in how pharmacies manage their entire workflow. Game-changing features like Enhanced Clinical Review (semi-automated clinical checking) and Assisted Dispensing (one-click, batch label printing) have empowered pharmacy contractors to rethink their operational models from the ground up.

We flipped the traditional dispensing model by placing the clinician at the start of the workflow. From there, the dispensing team handles the rest—freeing your most qualified staff to focus on service delivery and income generation. It’s a strategic shift that optimises resource use and improves overall efficiency.

Steve Russell, chief commercial officer at Positive Solutions said: “Our Analyst technology stands out for its unrivalled configurability. Unlike ‘take it or leave it’ systems that lock users into rigid workflows, Analyst allows complete customisation so that pharmacies can tailor processes to their unique needs and preferences.”

Our modernised workflow is available in two formats. Batch Assemble supports bulk processing and is ideal for those using robots or Hub and Spoke models. Scan to Assemble, on the other hand, enables work at individual pack level and eliminates the need for final accuracy checks. You can even combine both workflows simultaneously—something unique to our system.

Typically, our reimagined workflows save the average pharmacy 45 hours a week.

We adopted the strapline Beyond PMR to reflect the wider, more advanced capabilities we bring to the market through our expanding ‘Hx’ suite. For example, HxConsult, our fully integrated service platform, streamlines service delivery while eliminating double data entry typical of third-party tools.

MyHealthHub, our patient app, helps connect pharmacies to their communities. Patients can easily book services, order repeat prescriptions, and more. The app includes delivery options, PGDs, AI-driven voice tools, eCommerce functions, and white-labelling options to match your brand.

Our latest addition, HxCare, is an eMAR system designed from a pharmacy-first perspective. Fully integrated with Analyst, it simplifies managing care home business, making it not only manageable, but profitable.

Our technology is now best described as hybrid—offering the stability of on-premise software with the flexibility and accessibility of the Cloud where needed.

And the future? Our roadmap is packed with innovation that we’re excited to see delivered, ensuring Analyst users continue to lead with the best technology in the market.

The Importance of Teaching the Facts About Cannabis

Cannabis has transitioned from a controversial substance associated with illicit activities to a widely accepted plant with medicinal benefits and potential recreational use. As the laws surrounding cannabis evolve in many regions, it becomes increasingly crucial to educate the public about its properties, benefits, and potential risks. Understanding cannabis can empower individuals to make informed choices, whether for personal use, health management, or advocacy. This knowledge is particularly important for younger generations who may face different societal perspectives about cannabis. In teaching the facts about this plant, we can cultivate a calmer and more informed dialogue about cannabis use in our communities.

Understanding Cannabis: A Historical Perspective

A significant aspect of cannabis education involves recognizing its historical background. Cannabis has been utilized for thousands of years for various purposes, such as medicine, textiles, and rituals. Ancient civilizations, including the Chinese, Egyptians, and Indians, wrote extensively about cannabis and its uses. The stigma surrounding cannabis began in the 20th century, largely due to prohibition efforts.

When to Consider Using THC for Performance or Recovery

When it comes to performance and recovery, many athletes and fitness enthusiasts explore various tools to optimize their routines. Of late, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) has surfaced as a potential option. Whether for neurological benefits during exercise sessions or pain relief post-workout, understanding when to incorporate THC has become increasingly significant.

Understanding THC and Its Effects

THC is the psychoactive compound in cannabis that interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system. This system plays a crucial role in regulating mood, pain, inflammation, and various physiological responses. THC can change perception and affect pain and discomfort by attaching itself to cannabinoid receptors in the brain and immune system. Research shows that THC may provide anti-inflammatory benefits.
