DH extends Fluoxetine supply alert until May 17

The Department of Health and Social Care (DH) has further extended Serious Shortage Protocols (SSPs) issued for Fluoxetine 10mg tablets (SSP05) and Fluoxetine 40mg capsules (SSP009).

SSPs issued for Fluoxetine 10mg tablets and Fluoxetine 40mg capsules was previously expected to expire on March 31, but the end date has been further extended to May 17.

SSP05 Recommendations

For prescriptions (NHS or private) requesting: Supply permitted under SSP05:
Fluoxetine 10mg tablets Fluoxetine 10mg capsules

 

SSP006 Recommendations

For prescriptions (NHS or private) requesting: Supply permitted under SSP009:
Fluoxetine 40mg capsules 2 x Fluoxetine 20mg capsules

 

Reimbursement for the medicine supplied in accordance with the SSP and not the originally prescribed medicine.

The reimbursement price will account for VAT payment. Supply in accordance with the SSP will result in the following fees being paid to the contractor:

One Single Activity fee (currently £1.27)
One SSP fee (£5.35).
