Naina Chotai elected new NAWP president

Community and locum pharmacist Naina Chotai has been elected as the 48th president of National Association of Women Pharmacists (NAWP) for the year 2020.

She becomes the first person to assume the role since the association became a part of the Pharmacists Defence Association (PDA) early this year. She is a member of PDA Union’s South East England regional committee.

Chotai also runs a consultancy, providing professional support to independent pharmacist-owners in London and the South East.

“I am honoured to have been elected to the role of president of NAWP, a network of the PDA,” Chotai comemnted.

“Together with the rest of the talented elected team, we will work to advance gender equality and to empower women pharmacists to realise their full potential.

“As the president of the NAWP network, I will work tirelessly to raise the profile of women pharmacists, by being educationally, socially and politically active.”

The new role will also see Chotai serving on the PDA Equality Council alongside the chairs of the other PDA equality networks.

Daniela Rusalim, a community pharmacist in Peterborough is elected as vice-president of NAWP and Eilidh Milliken, a hospital pharmacist in Edinburgh as the association’s honorary secretary.
