The Department of Health and Social Care (DH) has updated a Serious Shortage Protocols (SSPs) issued for fluoxetine 30mg capsules and salazopyrin 500mg tablets.
SSP07 issued for Fluoxetine 30mg capsules was previously expected to expire on January 8, but now the end date has been further extended to March 12.
SSP08 issued for Salazopyrin EN-Tabs 500mg was previously expected to expire on January 8, but now it has been further extended to January 22.

The expiry dates of an SSP may be brought forward or extended, and the content may be amended at any time during the life of an SSP.
“Pharmacists should ensure they are using the latest version of an SSP before considering the supply of an alternative product. Reimbursement will be provided for the medicine supplied in accordance with the SSP and not on the originally prescribed medicine,” according to a PSNC update.
