Community pharmacists have been invited to a virtual event which will focus on shared learning from pharmacists who have been using the TARGET antibiotic checklist and other AMS tools at their respective pharmacies.
The event on antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) is scheduled on Microsoft Teams and is jointly organised by the Public Health England (PHE) and English Surveillance Programme for Antimicrobial Utilisation and Resistance on March 30 from 07.00 to 08.30pm.
The checklist and other AMS tools were highlighted as resources in the PHE antimicrobial stewardship for community pharmacy e-learning and e-assessment, which all patient-facing pharmacy staff were required to complete as part of the AMS criterion in the 2020-21 Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS).
“As part of this criterion, contractors were also required to have available, at premises level, an antimicrobial stewardship action plan for the pharmacy, which details how they will promote AMS; contractors may therefore find this virtual event helpful to pick up tips on how other pharmacy teams are promoting AMS,” according to the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee.
