With the new Integrated Care Systems, NHS in England will aim to promote more integrated working, including between primary care, hospital trusts, community services, local authorities, and the voluntary sector.

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) has invited case studies on how pharmacists and pharmacy teams are supporting new ways of working and how others can learn from these examples.

RPS England Chair Thorrun Govind said: “With the coming changes in the NHS in England, we want to help highlight the great work of pharmacists and pharmacy teams and how they can support more integrated care.

“If you think the NHS can learn from what you’re doing, if you want to join our new forum, or if you just want to find out more, I’d really encourage you to get in touch with the team. We are all ambassadors for the profession so please take this opportunity.”

The NHS Long-Term Plan set out the ambition for local health and care organisations to become part of new Integrated Care Systems by 2021. These will typically cover a population of over one million people.

Commissioners will make shared decisions with providers on how to use resources, design services and improve population health.
