The Department of Health and Social Care (DH) has issued a medicine supply notification for Sancuso (granisetron) 3.1mg/24 hours transdermal patches.
Sancuso 3.1mg/24 hours transdermal patches will remain out of stock until mid-February. However, other formulations of granisetron including tablets and injection will remain available in pharmacies.
Specialist importer companies have indicated that unlicensed imports of granisetron 3.1mg/24hours transdermal patches can be sourced.
The specialist importers including Alium Medical, Durbin, Mawdsley’s Unlicensed, Target Healthcare, and Waymade have currently confirmed that they can source unlicensed imports of granisetron 3.1mg/24hours transdermal patches.
There is no currently a listing on dm+d for the imported product for prescribers to select using their prescribing systems, therefore an EPS prescription for imported Sancuso 3.1mg/24 hours transdermal patches cannot be issued.
If a prescriber is unable to issue an unlicensed EPS prescription in the correct way, then pharmacy teams should contact the prescriber for an FP10 paper prescription to be issued as ‘granisetron (Sancuso) 3.1mg/24 hours transdermal patches (Imported)’ and endorsed by the pharmacy as a non-Part VIIIB special.
