Chief Pharmaceutical Officer for Scotland Rose Marie Parr is retiring from her role in July 2020, Scotland’s Health Secretary Jeane Freeman announced on Friday.
Parr, who has been in the pharmacy profession since 1982, was appointed to the role following the retirement of Professor Bill Scott in 2015.
In a tweet, Freeman said: “Rose Marie Parr has made a significant and valuable contribution as Chief Pharmaceutical Officer over the past 5 years. In her time she has provided consistent leadership and has been an exemplary CPO. I wish her the very best for her retirement when it comes at the end of July.”

She was the first Chair of the Scottish Pharmacy Board of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and was the chair of the GPhC’s Board of Assessors, which oversees the registration assessment.
She also held posts in hospital pharmacy and roles at NHS Education for Scotland.
Parr also holds honorary professorships at both Scottish schools of pharmacy – Strathclyde University and Robert Gordon University.
