The Pharmacists' Defence Association (PDA) has welcomed a recent review by Professor David Wright into how local pharmaceutical committees and the Pharmaceutical Service Negotiating Committee were providing their levy-payers the 'value for money'.
“PDA believe that the review and subsequent debate presents a significant opportunity for better representation of community pharmacy in England,” the PDA has said.
“The report suggests that the PDA become part of an advisory board and while we welcome this idea and look forward to how this is progressed, we believe the PSNC could still decide to go further and invite the independent voice of the profession onto the main board. This was suggested in our submission to the review,” it added.
The PSNC review was commissioned jointly by PSNC and local pharmaceutical committees (LPCs) last year to look for ways in which they could work more effectively together.
The review was led by Professor David Wright, Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the University of East Anglia (UEA), working with a team of UEA researchers and taking evidence through focus groups, interviews and surveys from people across the community pharmacy sector and beyond.
