The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) celebrated October as Black History Month and this year’s theme was “Standing Firm in Power and Pride.”

It was a tribute to the contributions made by Black pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and members of the wider pharmacy team who have broken barriers and created space and pathways within pharmacy.

At the RPS London office there were in-person gatherings as well as virtual events.

A heartfelt speech by campaigner, author, teacher and honorary member of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK), Stephen Lawrence was the highlight of the event.

His speech revolved around his late brother Stephen and the mindset to change ourselves and others.

The event was jointly organised by the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK), the Female Pharmacy Leaders Network, Pharmacy Technicians of Colour, Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists (GHP), the UK Black Pharmacists Association and Pharmacy Business Magazine.
