Liz Hallett has been elected as the new interim chair of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Welsh Pharmacy Board and former chair Geraldine McCaffrey was elected as RPS director for Wales.


Hallett will serve until the three National Pharmacy Advisory Councils are elected in March next year, following which a new council chair will be elected by the council members.

The inaugural elections will form part of the new governance structure of the future Royal College of Pharmacy.

Hallett has diverse experience encompassing community pharmacy, GP practice, primary care, prison healthcare, care homes, and education.

The Welsh Pharmacy Board comprises 11 elected representatives from every sector of pharmacy and one co-opted representative from the education sector.

Hallett said, “Over the past four years as a board member, I have actively contributed to shaping policy, responding to key enquiries, and representing the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) at the Senedd to highlight the vital role of pharmacy in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.”

“These experiences have deepened my understanding of governance, strategic leadership, and the importance of collaboration across all sectors of our profession.”

Hallett said as chair she would work towards the empowerment and support for the pharmacy workforce.
