The Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) has awarded three health professionals for their role in shaping public health in the UK and overseas.

Professor Dame Jenny Harries and Dr Jonathan Pearson-Stuttard were awarded lifetime Honorary Fellowships, while Albert G. Mulley Jr. won a lifetime Honorary Membership of the American Public Health Association (APHA) on behalf of RSPH.

“From pandemic responses to better clinical care, these awards recognise their hugely significant contributions to public health. It has never been more important to celebrate the people that impact our health for the better,” said William Roberts, chief executive of RSPH as he congratulated the winners.

Professor Dame Jenny Harries served as Deputy Chief Medical Officer from 2019 to 2021 before becoming the first Chief Executive of the UK Health Security Agency.

She commented, “To receive this lifetime award is a real honour for me personally but it is also a recognition within my professional lifetime that creating positive change in the public's health is formally recognised as a multi-disciplinary effort, not just a medical one.”

Dr Jonathan Pearson-Stuttard is a public health physician and epidemiologist who leads Health Analytics at Lane Clark & Peacock (LCP) and holds roles at Northumbria Healthcare and Imperial College London.

He edited the Chief Medical Officer’s 2018 Health 2040 report, helped shape the Health Index, and served as RSPH chair from 2022 to 2025.

“It has been a privilege to serve as Chair over the past three years, working alongside such dedicated colleagues to champion prevention, reduce health inequalities, and strengthen the nation's health” said Dr Jonathan.

Albert G. Mulley Jr. is a Professor of Health Policy and Clinical Practice at the Dartmouth Institute and a Professor of Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine.

He said, “I am deeply honoured by the Royal Society for Public Health's nomination for honorary membership in the APHA.”
