Well Pharmacy superintendent pharmacist Ifti Khan has been named as a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS).
Khan’s 30-year career in community pharmacy has spanned several pharmacy professional, operational and field roles, including as a locum pharmacist.
He has been with Well Pharmacy, which is part of the Bestway Group, for more than 14 years, and has served as a pharmacy superintendent for the past four years.
Khan is also a board member of the Community Pharmacy Greater Manchester Local Pharmaceutical Committee.
“I am deeply honoured and truly humbled to have been awarded a Fellowship by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society,” told The Bolton News.
"This recognition is a personal milestone and a reflection of the shared journey I have been fortunate to undertake alongside so many inspiring individuals.
"This Fellowship is a testament to the unwavering support I have received from my family, friends and the incredible colleagues and teams I have worked with throughout my career.
"To be included among such a distinguished group of Fellows is both humbling and inspiring."
Khan, 55, was recognised for a distinguished career in pharmacy that has included leading Well Pharmacy’s response to the covid pandemic.
He chaired daily executive meetings, addressed supply chain issues, and oversaw the rollout of protective measures and PPE.
He also managed the distribution of lateral flow tests and vaccinations.
Looking back on the pandemic, Khan felt it is important to remember the role community pharmacy played in supporting the public.
"I think we did a phenomenal job, the entire pharmacy community did,” Khan told The Bolton News.
"It often gets forgotten, but it’s probably the one achievement that will always stay with me."
