Nalcrom 100mg capsules, used for treating allergic reactions to certain foods, will be out of stock during September, Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) said.

To meet the demand, unlicensed imports of sodium cromoglicate 100mg capsules have been sourced after confirmation from some specialist importers.

Companies that can source supply of sodium cromoglicate include Alium Medical, Mawdsleys Unlicensed, Target Healthcare and Waymade PLC.

If a prescriber wishes to prescribe an unlicensed import, an FP10 paper prescription should be issued as ‘Sodium Cromoglicate 100mg capsules (Special Order)‘ and endorsed by the pharmacy as a non-Part VIIIB special.

Separately, the DHSC stated that supply of Chloral Hydrate 143.3mg in 5ml oral solution is expected to resume by the end of November 2021. The department had issued a Medicine Supply Notification (MSN) for the medicine on March 30, 2021.

Besides, supply of Metronidazole (Acea) 0.75 per cent gel is likely to resume from mid-September.
