Pharmacy2U Acquires LloydsDirect for Digital-First Pharmacy

The merger aims to provide patients with greater accessibility to online pharmacy and healthcare services

Online pharmacy Pharmacy2U, acquires LloydsDirect in a merger for a single digital-first pharmacy.

The companies issued a statement on 9 October and confirmed that they would operate as Pharmacy2U.

It would also have a total of 1.4 million EPS nominations, as confirmed by NHS recent data.

They are planning to enhance patient accessibility to online pharmacy and healthcare services through their combined services.

Kevin Heath, Chief Executive Officer of Pharmacy2U, said: “We are delighted to welcome the LloydsDirect team into the Pharmacy2U family. Combining the best of both of our businesses, we can provide patients with greater access and convenience.

“Together we bring committed leadership, a passion for pharmacy and an expanded portfolio of digital health products and services coupled with a state-of-the-art dispensing technology.

“We are excited to bring together two businesses aligned by patient-centric values and online expertise to further enable the pharmacy to benefit the NHS and its patients”.

The NHS electronic prescription service nominations data for 2023 determines Pharmacy2U and Lloyds have the “first and second highest number of patients” – with options to receive medicines prescribed electronically.

The companies are focussing on dispensing repeat prescriptions and clinical services offered to “bolster NHS capacity in the delivery of sustainable and forward-looking primary care services”.

The statement also confirmed that the patients’ would see no change in how “they order or receive their medicines”.
