Leading pharmacy group Weldricks has strengthened its commitment to providing the highest quality of care to the communities it serves by implementing the RPS Daffodil Quality Improvement Standards for Community Pharmacy.

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) on Monday (20 November) announced that Weldricks will soon be rolling out the Daffodil Standards across half its stores in South Yorkshire.

Developed in partnership with UK charity Marie Curie, the RPS Daffodil Standards serve as a framework for improving the quality of palliative and end-of-life care provided by community pharmacy teams.

Amy Marlin, Superintendent Pharmacist of Weldricks, commented that the implementation of the RPS Daffodil Standards is “another step forward in our journey to provide the highest quality of care to the communities we serve.”

“We want to strengthen our bond with our patients, their families and carers, to enable the best experience for those at this most challenging stage of life,” she added.

Representatives from all Weldricks’ sites, including pharmacy technicians, counter staff, foundation pharmacists and practising pharmacists attended the official launch event on 20 November.

The event was marked by comprehensive training sessions led by Darrell Baker, RPS Project Manager for the Daffodil Standards.

Baker said: “We are thrilled that Weldricks has taken the proactive step of implementing the RPS Daffodil Standards. Their commitment to quality improvement demonstrates dedication to delivering excellent healthcare services and ensuring the well-being of their patients.”

Community pharmacies will be able to display the ‘Daffodil mark’ as they work through the self-assessment and actions for the eight individual Daffodil Standards.
