Popular clinical pharmacist Ayah Abbas emphasised upon the potential career growth young women could attain in the field of pharmacy during her recent talk at the Batley Girls’ High School’s Careers Breakfast event.
Ayah, former president of the Pharmacists’ Defence Association’s National Association of Women Pharmacists (PDA NAWP) Network discussed about the evolving roles of pharmacy professionals.
“It’s so important to empower women pharmacists and support them in thriving at work. I wanted to highlight that pharmacy is not just about checking medicines, it’s about leadership, advocacy, innovation, and making a real difference in people’s lives,” said Abbas.
PDA NAWP is a major platform that contributes in making pharmacy a safe and supportive field of work for women.
Therefore, like the other careers, pharmacy is dynamic and rewarding as well. The new generation must be daring to breakdown the outdated perceptions to soar high as a pharmacist.
“Ayah’s visit to Batley Girls’ High School was very insightful. It gave me a deeper understanding of what being a pharmacist actually entails and how a career in pharmacy is very rewarding,” said Ferhana Lunat, head of student services at Batley Girls’ High School.
“Our students found Ayah’s talk very interesting and helpful, especially how much Ayah has achieved and gone on to do. Thank you, Ayah, for your inspiring talk which has led many students to want to become future pharmacists.”
