In a bid to ensure safe and effective patient care in care homes, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) has published a new training resource to support the pharmacy teams during Covid-19 pandemic.

The practical guide has been developed in collaboration with a group of experts including NHS England, CPPE, APTUK, PCPA, RCGP, and SPS to enable pharmacy staff members to provide necessary patient care to the needy in the care home settings.

The patient care resource contains information on clinical reviews, medicines supply, structured medication reviews, and medicines information.

“The care home guide provides step-by-step instructions for upskilling. It includes a self-assessment knowledge and capability guide, targeted learning using a range of resources and worked case studies, among others,” according to the pharmacy body.

Access to RPS COVID-19 learning resources is free during the pandemic for the entire pharmacy profession, through registering on RPS website or using RPS membership details, RPS has said in a release.
