The Community Pharmacy England has expressed disappointment with the government's decision not to revise the fee for the flu vaccination service for the 2025-26 immunisation drive.
The current fee of £9.58 will continue, and the decision has now been set out in the Drug Tariff for September 2025.
The CPE said the proposed fee for the 2025/26 season was unacceptable, as the fee has not been revised for the past six seasons.
The CPE had earlier made a submission of an evidence-based case for an increase in the fee.
It pointed out that costs have increased significantly for pharmacy owners over six years, with the GDP inflator showing cost inflation of over 22 percent.
This was before sector-specific increases in wage costs and the recent increases in the National Minimum Wage and employers’ National Insurance contributions.
Community pharmacies vaccinate millions of people during the annual flu vaccination campaign, and this helps to protect many patients throughout winter and reduce the impact of seasonal illness on the NHS.
