Key Summary

  • CPE has extended the deadline for the 2026 Pharmacy Pressures Survey to 10 am on 13 April 2026.
  • Separate surveys are available for pharmacy business owners and pharmacy teams.
  • Data will highlight financial struggles in the industry.

Community Pharmacy England (CPE) has extended the deadline from 16 March to 10 am on 13 April for responses to its fifth annual Pharmacy Pressures Survey to assess the health of the sector.

There are two separate surveys - one for pharmacy owners and head office representatives, and the other for pharmacy teams.

The short survey aims to gauge the extent to which rising operational costs and medicine supply issues are affecting community pharmacies. Recently, thousands of pharmacies in England have written to health secretary Wes Streeting that they are forced to make 'agonising decisions' about what services to cut to 'keep their doors open’, when new costs hit in April.

CPE said the survey would capture what is needed to continue pushing for vital changes, and use the latest evidence to support the sector.

Anyone working in a community pharmacy can take part in this survey.

CPE chief executive Janet Morrison said, “Community Pharmacy England regularly witnesses the extraordinary pressures pharmacy teams are facing in meetings, visits, emails, and conversations across the country. But to influence real, lasting change at a national level, we need more than anecdotes – we need robust, representative, undeniable data. That’s why the Pressures Survey is so important.”

“Every response strengthens our hand in negotiations. Findings from previous surveys have provided some key data points for influencing change, including securing the need for investment and margin write-offs. This year’s data will help us push for more.”

“Whether you are an owner, pharmacist, technician, or dispenser – your experience adds vital weight to the national picture. Responding to the survey only takes a few minutes, but its impact lasts all year,” she added.
