The Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE) has launched a digital healthcare learning gateway to train pharmacy teams add value to the NHS’s digital evolution.

The learning gateway covers areas such as clinical informatics, health data, electronic patient records, cyber security and digital decision support tools.

The programme aligns with the Health and Care Digital Capabilities Network and has been created in collaboration with NHS England.

It supports NHS 10-Year-Plan’s shift from analogue to digital, by improving productivity and patient outcomes.

So, educating and empowering pharmacy professionals, who are at the forefront of this shift is a necessity as per CPPE.

The gateway is a flexible learning programme that offers training to beginners and those seeking advanced expertise.

Pharmacists can learn at their own pace, and improve their capacity to deliver safe, effective and patient-centred care.

"As the use of technology in healthcare continues to grow rapidly, it is essential that the pharmacy workforce is equipped with the digital skills and capabilities needed to effectively use these technologies in practice,” commented Rahul Singal, Chief Pharmacy & Medicines Information Officer for NHS England.

He said, "To support this transformation, the national NHS England pharmacy digital workforce task and finish group is pleased to have collaborated with CPPE to create the online digital learning gateway.”

"We strongly encourage all pharmacy professionals to explore and engage with the gateway as a valuable resource to support their development of essential digital competencies,” Mr Singal added.
