Day Lewis Plc has announced that Dr Tim Rendell, head of pharmacy, will be retiring in March this year and will take up an advisory role within the organisation.
In a LinkedIn post, the Pharmacy chain thanked Rendell for his 15 years of dedicated service to the organisation.
"Tim has been at the heart of our pharmacy business, leading with passion, integrity, and a deep commitment to the communities we serve. His regular visits to our 250 pharmacies, his mentorship, and his unwavering support have shaped the future of community pharmacy at Day Lewis and beyond."
Day Lewis said Rendell will support them part-time in an advisory capacity, focusing on developing partnerships with universities, the pharmaceutical industry, and the NHS.
Executive director Jay Patel said, "Tim’s contribution to Day Lewis and the wider pharmacy sector has been truly exceptional. His leadership, wisdom, and genuine care for our teams and patients have set a standard that will inspire us for years to come.
"As Tim moves into various advisory roles, I have no doubt he will continue to add immense value - not just to Day Lewis, but to universities, industry partners, and NHS England. We are grateful for everything he has done and excited to see the positive impact he will have across the sector in this new chapter."
The pharmacy chain also announced that Shimal Patel will become Group Chief Operating Officer from 1 April, and the "retail and distribution operations will be under one leadership".
He will be supported by Dustie Orton, who becomes Group Head of Operations.
Patel has over 20 years of experience across the business, and the company hopes his deep understanding and proven leadership will guide them into the future.
Jay Patel said, "Shimal’s appointment to the COO role is a timely one. Now, more than ever before, clinical pharmacy excellence will need to be achieved through people, process and technology. Shimal has demonstrated an expert grasp of all these areas during his tenure at Day Lewis and we are excited to see the success he brings.”
