The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) is looking for a replacement for its chief executive and registrar, Duncan Rudkin, who recently announced that he will be stepping down on 31 December.

The council is seeking an "outstanding individual" for one of the most significant leadership roles in healthcare regulation.

It involves ensuring the safety, quality, and integrity of pharmacy services while enabling the profession to adapt and thrive, it added.

The chief executive provides strategic, operational, and cultural leadership to a workforce of 300 colleagues.

As registrar, the incumbent also fulfils vital statutory responsibilities under the Pharmacy Order 2010, including registration and fitness-to-practise.

Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as an employment agency advisor to the GPhC on this appointment.

Rudkin announced in July that he would step down after being in the post for 15 years.
